My awesome experience with an alternative Android App store! Doubly featured on SlideMe.org!

Today, two of my games were featured on SlideMe.org!!! Both Hoversweeper and Finger Arena were given prime “above-the-fold” space! When I first realized, two of the three featured games were mine! Can’t complain about that! The day ended off with two of the seven features games being mine, getting spot #2 and #3!

Also, the total number of downloads in the past 24 hours is respectably close to the number that I get on the Android Market each day! That’s pretty impressive for an alternative Android App store! I just learnt about SlideMe the other day too, from Wikipedia, no less.

If you are developing Android applications, I highly recommend that you take a couple minutes to upload your APKs there as well. The app approval time was great. In my case three apps were approved in about 5 hours. SlideMe.org’s app upload process is efficient and very easy. And since SlideMe’s promotional layout image sizes mostly match the Android Market, your prep work will only involve converting PNGs to JPEGs (if need be) and resizing your app icon to 150 pixels.

The number of downloads compared to the Android Market is pretty respectable as well. And I had already come to that conclusion well before I was featured.
